Situation
DFDS wanted to optimize the Basic Safety Training of the personnel
by improving the standard training through introducing more onboard
training.
Solution
The solution became a Blended Learning concept consisting of an
interactive e-learning module, an internet-based assessment and
then a practical 1.5-day course. E-learning was comprised of
both video and interactive exercises to explain the safety
theory.
Result
DFDS Basic Safety Training was the first Blended Learning concept
to be approved by Danish Maritime Authority (DMA). The training
concept supported DFDS cruise line division in cutting down
'time-to-competency' by 75% and at the same time increased the
measured training effect.
