Research from the Corporate Leadership Council has revealed that managers capable of providing effective day-to-day feedback can boost employee engagement with up to 40%. However, one recurrent problem in any working environment is the inability of employees and leaders to provide informal feedback. On board ships – where teamwork and synergy of efforts are essential – appropriate delivery of fair and accurate corrective feedback on a day-to-day basis is of paramount importance. It encourages an environment where areas of improvements are openly discussed and work performance is clearly improved. The course explains the principles of informal feedback and provides participants with simple tools to practise it.
