One of Green-Jakobsen's instructors, Mr. Jay Babera, who is currently extending his capacity of teaching within the fields of safety conducted a lecture on "Safety Culture in My School" on October 10, 2009 at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in Zambales, Philippines. Mr. Babera was invited by the PMMA Alumni Association, and Green-Jakobsen sees this as an outreach to a maritime school that will undoubtedly benefit the students.

Twenty five graduating PMMA cadets attended this activity and their reactions and feedback were very positive and reflected how they definitely found it essential to learn more about safety culture in their school.  They appreciate the necessity of focusing on safety in everyday life, and that it is a useful training in preparation for their return at sea after graduation.

Some of the reactions received from the students were:

"I learned a lot. I suggest that all 3CL Midshipmen (Cadets on their second year) will also learn safety culture on board to prepare them for their shipboard training."

"It uplifted our safety awareness."

"I strongly recommend that this seminar should be done every month for us to develop more our culture regarding safety and this seminar helps us a lot to improve us in the future. The subject matter was interesting and not boring."
