Babera talks at Hoegh LNG crew conference

"It blended well with our company's objective to improve the safety awareness among Filipino seafarers."

 This was how Mr. Oivind Stark, Maritime Personnel Head of Hoegh LNG A/S described the presentation made by Mr. Jay Babera, General Manager of Green Jakobsen Philippines during the Hoegh LNG Crew Conference held at the College of St. Benilde Hotel last March 8, 2011.

Jay talked about safety culture as it relates to safety awareness enhancement among the participants. Using Green-Jakobsen's learning concepts and methodologies he delivered the message in a simple but interesting manner.  He pointed at the practical things that they can do, such as speaking out and looking actively for any hazard.  He encouraged the participants to report near miss frequently as the high number of such reports would indicate also an increase in their safety-consciousness. 

More than 30 Filipino ratings attended the conference. Also present were Paal Gunnulfsen, Vice President - Head of Fleet Management, Edmund Gjennestad and Cathrine Tamburstuen, Crew Managers.
