The services we have delivered to our clients over the years have affirmed that our three fields of expertise are closely linked. You cannot deal with Safety without looking at Leadership and HR and you cannot deal with HR without looking at Leadership and Safety.”

When people perform your company will perform!
“As employees develop commitment to their work, managers and organisation, they will contribute with greater effort in a way that will boost performance”.
Research shows that what makes people perform and go beyond expectations in their jobs is when they have a personal interest or they clearly see the purpose, believe in their work and see the higher meaning of it. Managing and tracking individual competencies in regulated environments is a continuous process. World-class shipping companies use competencies to articulate and leverage excellent performance. From a value-added perspective, competency based management systems enable the realisation of business strategy and provide a distinctive, enduring advantage for the company.
Green-Jakobsen’s human resource performance initiatives address the strategic, tactical as well as the operational level. This means that we look at the formulation of HR management strategies, link them with the competence management system, leadership training, performance management, recruitment procedures and learning and development of employees. We base our contributions on a thorough analysis of the existing needs and conditions in the company and help the company shape the competence and performance management systems, defining relevant competences, setting goals – individually and towards the business, provide guidance and development for leaders and employees and appraise performance.
The way we do it
The Green-Jakobsen Performance ButterflyTM model describes how we integrate HR efforts in four focus areas. This model is also used in our Safety initiatives. This approach is relevant when we plan and implement any project in cooperation with our customers. In an human resource management perspective it means that we focus on interaction within:
1) Vision and direction: Giving clear and precise goals and success criteria communicated directly and through leadership and competence development.
2) Leadership performance and competence: Focus on the leaders’ ability to develop own and employees’ competences to achieve the set goals, through evaluation, feedback and improvement initiatives.
3) Supporting means: working procedures, systems, and procedures supporting the employee in the daily work.
4) Organisational anchorage and culture: The basic functions, organisation and the working culture applicable for the individual employee.
With this as the basis for our analysis and solutions we make sure that any intervention or effort will be fully embedded in the organisation.
The manager serves as the link to the rest of the organisation. Effective managers make the employees understand their own role, provide clarity in the everyday work – communicates why is this valuable.
